Known for decades as the First Lady of Golf, it is her passion for helping others outside the ropes that makes Barbara Nicklaus a state treasure. Loved and revered by generations, she has been hailed an “angel on earth” for her commitment to family and community. A philanthropic leader, she works tirelessly for the health and well-being of children locally and globally. Barbara serves on the boards of numerous charitable organizations and is the heart and guiding light of the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation as Chair and Co-Founder. Since its inception in 2004, the Foundation has raised over $150 million to enhance access to world-class health care for children and families in South Florida and beyond. In honor of this impact, Miami Children’s was renamed Nicklaus Children’s Health System in 2017. Barbara has been celebrated and recognized nationwide including the PGA of America’s Distinguished Service Award in 2019 and the USGA’s Bob Jones Award in 2015. Florida residents since 1965, the Nicklauses have twice been named Family of the Year.
